Most appliance repair firms will not tell you what a visit costs until an engineer is standing in your kitchen. There is a reason for that, and it is not a good one. Here is ours, in full.
What it costs
£66 inc VAT — diagnosis
A qualified engineer comes out, finds the fault and tells you exactly what is wrong and what it will take to put right.
£84 inc VAT — fixed on the spot
If we can fix it there and then without needing a part, that is the total. Nothing else to pay.
Parts
Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. We do not fit anything, or charge for anything, without your say-so first.
Guaranteed
Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee. If our work is at fault within that time, we come back and put it right at no charge to you.
What is not on that list
The £66 covers the whole visit and nothing is added on top. There is no hourly rate, so a fiddly job does not cost more than an easy one. There is no minimum charge, no weekend surcharge and no congestion or fuel supplement. Nothing is taken when you book — you pay the engineer when the work is done.
If we cannot fix it, you pay the £66 for the visit and you get a straight answer about why. We would rather tell you a machine is not worth repairing than sell you a repair that will not last.
What happens when it needs a part
Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide.
We do not publish part prices, and we would be inventing them if we did — the same fault on two machines a year apart can take two different components at two different costs. So the engineer prices it in front of you, on the visit, with the machine open. Nothing is ordered, nothing is fitted and nothing is charged until you have said yes.
Repair or replace?
Worth asking before you spend anything. The rough rule is that if the repair comes to less than about half what the machine is worth, repairing is usually the better call — and it keeps a working machine out of landfill. A five-year-old integrated dishwasher is normally worth fixing. A budget freestanding machine with a failed drum bearing often is not.
That is a sum the engineer will do with you on the visit, with the real part price in front of both of you rather than a guess off a website.
If you need to cancel
Let us know more than 12 hours before the slot and there is nothing to pay. Inside that, there is a £33 charge including VAT (£27.5 plus VAT), because by then an engineer's day has been held for you and someone else has been turned away.

How much does an appliance repair cost?

Is there anything to pay on top of the £66?
No. The £66 is the visit — travel, the engineer's time and the diagnosis are all in it. There is no hourly rate and no minimum labour charge.
How much does a washing machine repair cost?
The same as any other appliance: £66 including VAT to diagnose it, £84 all-in if it is fixed on the visit with no parts. Washing machines are the most common repair we do, and a good share of them are drainage or door-lock faults that need no part at all.
What if it turns out it cannot be repaired?
You pay the £66 for the visit and you get a straight answer about why it is not worth doing. We would rather tell you to replace a machine than sell you a repair that will not last.
How much are parts?
It depends entirely on the part and the machine, so we do not guess at it. The engineer prices the part in front of you, on the visit, and nothing is fitted and nothing is charged until you have said yes.
Do I have to pay anything up front?
No. Nothing is taken when you book. You pay the engineer once the job is done.
Is it cheaper to repair or replace?

Is the price different in Derby or Leicester?
No. It is the same £66 across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire. We do not price by postcode.
Why we publish it at all
Because the alternative is asking you to book a stranger to come to your house without telling you what it costs, and then pricing the job once you are too committed to say no.
A fixed, published price means we cannot do that, which is rather the point. It also means the engineer has no reason to spin a job out — there is no hourly rate to pad.
