Who we are

ASAP Appliance Repairs Ltd is the data controller for the information collected through this website — meaning we are the ones responsible for it, and the ones you can hold to account for it. We trade as ASAP Repairs and repair domestic appliances across Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire.

You can reach us on 0115 648 0929 or at info@asap-repairs.com.

What we collect

When you use the quote form or contact us, we collect:

  • Your name, phone number and, if you give it, your email address
  • The address and postcode where the appliance is, so we can get an engineer to it
  • What the appliance is, its make, what it is doing wrong, and when you would like us to come
  • The page you were on when you enquired
  • Your IP address, which we use only to stop the form being abused by automated bots

If you phone, text or message us, we keep those messages, and calls may be recorded and written up so we have an accurate record of what was agreed.

The chat window on this site is answered by an automated assistant, and what you type into it is stored with the rest of your enquiry. Please do not type card details into it — it will never ask for them, and we do not take payment through it.

Why we have it, and what allows us to

  • To quote for and carry out the repair you asked for. This is what you contacted us for, and we cannot do it without these details.
  • To contact you about that job — confirming the appointment, telling you when the engineer is on the way, and following up if we could not reach you.
  • To keep proper business records, including for tax, warranty and insurance purposes, which we are required to do.
  • To protect the form from abuse and to check the quality of our own service. We have a legitimate interest in both, balanced against your privacy.

We do not sell your information. We do not use it to build advertising profiles, and we do not pass it to anyone for their own marketing.

Automated calls and messages

We use an automated assistant to help handle enquiries, so some calls, texts or messages you receive from us may be generated by a computer system rather than typed or dialled by a person. It is used to arrange and confirm repairs — booking you in, giving you an arrival time, chasing a missed reply. Its work is overseen by our staff, and you can ask to speak to a person at any point, simply by saying so.

Who else sees it

Only those who need to:

  • The engineer attending your job
  • The suppliers who run our phone, text and messaging systems, and the supplier of the automated assistant described above
  • Our payment provider, if you pay by card
  • Our accountant, and any authority we are legally obliged to tell

These suppliers may only act on our instructions, and cannot use your details for their own purposes. We are happy to tell you exactly who they are — just ask.

Where it is kept

Your details are held in our own system, on our own server, protected by an encrypted connection. Some of our suppliers operate outside the UK; where that happens, we rely on the safeguards required by UK data protection law.

How long we keep it

We keep records of enquiries and jobs for 6 years, which covers the period in which a question about a repair, a warranty claim or a tax matter could still reasonably arise. After that they are deleted. If you enquired and never became a customer, tell us and we will remove your details sooner.

Cookies

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people actually read — how many arrived, what they looked at, and whether they went on to ask for a quote. It stores two cookies, _ga and _ga_1LQZV9CMZN, which last about two years and recognise a returning visitor without knowing who you are. Google may also use this data in line with their privacy policy.

We advertise on Google. When someone arrives from one of our adverts and then asks us for a quote, Google's tag counts that as a conversion, so we can tell which adverts actually bring in work and stop paying for the ones that do not. It stores a cookie called _gcl_au, which lasts about three months.

We do not use it to follow you around other websites, and we do not sell anything to advertisers.

We use Microsoft Clarity to understand how people use this site — which pages they read, where they click, and where they get stuck. Clarity records a replay of the pages you visit. Text you type is masked before it leaves your browser, so the name, address and telephone number you enter in a quote form are not visible to us in a recording. Microsoft may also use this data in line with their privacy statement.

Clarity stores two cookies on your device — _clck, which lasts about a year and recognises a returning visitor, and _clsk, which lasts for one browsing session.

These are set when you arrive. If you would rather they were not, most browsers let you block or delete cookies for a single site, and the site works normally without them.

Your rights

You can ask us to:

  • Show you what we hold about you
  • Correct anything that is wrong
  • Delete it, where we are not required to keep it
  • Stop using it for a particular purpose, or stop contacting you
  • Send it to you, or to someone else, in a portable form

Ask by phone or email and we will deal with it within one month. There is no charge.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113. We would rather you came to us first so we can put it right.

Changes

If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and change the date at the top.
