What E02 actually means

The machine isn't getting the water it expects, so it has stopped and flagged a fill problem.

On the NWWM814W, the control waits for the drum to reach the right water level within a set time at the start of fill. If not enough water arrives — or none at all — it abandons the cycle and shows E02 rather than running the heater and drum dry. Nine times out of ten the cause is outside the machine, on the supply side, not a fault in the washer dryer itself.

What E02 looks like on a New World washer dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a New World washer dryer, E02 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Not filling with water
  • No water going in
  • Takes for ever to fill
  • Stops right at the start of the cycle
  • Overfilling, or won't stop filling
  • Stops with water still inside
  • Fills and drains over and over
  • Not drying

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • The cold tap feeding the machine is turned off or only part open
  • A kinked or trapped fill hose behind the machine
  • Blocked filter in the inlet valve where the hose screws on, usually silted up with grit from the mains
  • Low water pressure, or the water is off in the house
  • Inlet valve failed and no longer opening

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Check the tap on the water supply is fully open — if the machine has recently been moved, it may have been knocked shut.
  2. Run another cold tap in the house to confirm you have mains water and reasonable pressure.
  3. Pull the machine forward gently and look at the fill hose for kinks, twists or anything crushing it against the wall.
  4. Turn the tap off, unscrew the fill hose at the tap end by hand, and rinse out the small mesh filter in the connector if it looks blocked. Refit it hand-tight and check for drips.
  5. Switch off at the socket for a minute, then power up and restart the cycle.

Which New World models show E02

E02 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix New World E02 myself?

There are 5 checks you can safely do yourself first.

This sometimes clears with those checks. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.
