White Knight E07 tumble dryer: what it means & what to check

What E07 actually means

The dryer has stopped because the control board isn't getting the drum turning as it should — on the heat pump models this points to a locked or disconnected drum motor.

On White Knight heat pump dryers, E07 is raised when the motor connection is lost or the motor is locked and the drum cannot turn. This code starts by asking whether the drum turns by hand at all, and then whether the support wheels behind it are free — so a seized drum or failed support wheel is treated as a prime suspect, not only an electrical fault. On the washer-dryer style control boards used elsewhere in the range the same number is logged as a configuration failure, meaning the board has not been set up for the model it is fitted to, which is normally seen after a board has been replaced.

What E07 looks like on a White Knight tumble dryer

What usually causes it

Something jamming the drum so it cannot turn — a trapped item or a wedged load
Worn or seized drum support wheels
Drum motor wiring connector unseated or the motor itself failed
Control board fitted or configured for the wrong model (after a board change)

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dryer off at the wall, open the door and take the load out — check nothing is trapped between the drum and the front, such as a sock, bra wire or coin
With the power off, turn the drum by hand: if it will not move freely, or it grinds or drops, that alone explains the code and needs an engineer
Clean the fluff filter and refit it properly, then leave the machine off at the socket for a minute before restarting
Try a short programme with the drum empty and see whether it fails again straight away
