What E01 actually means
The dishwasher hasn't taken on enough water in the time it expects, so it has stopped and flagged a filling problem.
During the fill stage the machine waits for water to reach the level it needs. On the WDW1260W, if that takes too long it abandons the cycle and shows this code rather than running the pump dry. It is a water supply fault far more often than a fault inside the machine.
What E01 looks like on a Willow dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Willow dishwasher, E01 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
- Stops right at the start of the cycle
- E01 flashing on the display
- Beeping and showing E01

What usually causes it
- Water supply tap to the dishwasher turned off or only part open
- Inlet hose kinked, trapped behind the machine or crushed against a unit
- Low mains water pressure, or another appliance drawing water at the same time
- Blocked filter in the inlet hose connection or a restricted supply valve
- Faulty water inlet valve or level sensing inside the machine
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the tap feeding the dishwasher is fully open — if the machine has recently been moved or plumbing work done nearby, it may have been left shut.
- Look at the inlet hose where it runs behind the machine and make sure it isn't kinked, pinched or bent sharply.
- Run the kitchen tap for a moment to confirm you have normal water pressure and flow.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, switch it back on and start a fresh cycle to clear the code.
