What E07 actually means

The control board has lost or does not recognise the settings that tell it which machine it is fitted to, so it stops rather than run a cycle it can't configure.

Willow lists E07 as a configuration failure. The main board carries a stored configuration telling it the model, drum size and which features are fitted; if that data is missing, corrupted or doesn't match the machine, the board halts. It's flagged in the manual as a service indication rather than a customer one, so if it has appeared on the display it usually means the board has genuinely lost its setup — commonly after a power interruption, or after a replacement board has gone in without being configured for the model.

What E07 looks like on a Willow tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Willow tumble dryer, E07 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • No function at all
  • Dead — nothing lights up
  • Lights flashing and nothing happening
  • Programme won't start
  • Machine tripping the electrics
  • E07 flashing on the display
  • Beeping and showing E07

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Control board fitted as a replacement but never configured to the model
  • Stored configuration data corrupted, often after a power cut or surge
  • Faulty main control board
  • Software or configuration mismatch between the main board and the dryer side of a washer dryer

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the programme knob to the off position and leave it for about three seconds — this is Willow's own reset and returns the settings to factory defaults
  2. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and try a short cycle
  3. If it clears once and then returns, note what the machine was doing when it appeared — that helps the engineer

Which Willow models show E07

E07 means the same thing on all 4 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix Willow E07 myself?

There are 3 checks you can safely do yourself first.

  1. Turn the programme knob to the off position and leave it for about three seconds — this is Willow's own reset and returns the settings to factory defaults.
  2. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and try a short cycle.
  3. If it clears once and then returns, note what the machine was doing when it appeared — that helps the engineer.
