What E05 actually means
The machine has lost a sensible reading from its temperature sensor and has stopped rather than carry on blind.
On Hoover appliances an E05 is generally reported as a temperature sensor (NTC probe) reading open circuit or short circuit, together with its wiring. The control board cannot tell how hot the water or air is, so it halts the programme instead of risking an uncontrolled heat-up. What E05 looks like on a Hoover dishwasher

- Clean out the filter and make sure nothing is obstructing the base of the machine
- Check the drain and fill hoses are not kinked or trapped behind the appliance
