What E01 actually means
The induction hob has lost contact with its cooling fan, so it shuts the cooking zones down rather than let the electronics overheat.
An induction hob makes its heat in a power board underneath the glass, and that board relies on a fan to keep itself cool. The control has detected that the fan is not connected or not responding properly \u2014 The fault points to a damaged or disconnected fan cable or a poor socket connection at the fan. Because there is no safe way to run the board without cooling, the hob stops instead of continuing to heat.
What E01 looks like on a New World hob
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a New World hob, E01 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not heating up
- Takes ages to get to temperature
- Cuts out part way through cooking
- Noisy fan
- Not getting cold evenly
- Cuts out after a few minutes
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up

What usually causes it
- Fan cable knocked loose or unseated at its plug, often after other work under the hob
- Damaged or chafed fan wiring underneath the hob
- Failed cooling fan
- Fault on the power board that drives and monitors the fan
- Control or display board misreading the fan signal
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the hob off at the wall for a minute, then back on come back clear if it was a one-off read
- Make sure nothing is blocking the ventilation around and beneath the hob \u2014 no packaging, cloths or stored items pressed up against it in the cupboard or drawer below
- Check nothing has been placed over the hob surface that would trap heat while it is on
