What E00 actually means
The touch control panel has lost contact with the dryer's main circuit board, so the two halves of the machine can no longer talk to each other.
On this heat pump model the touch panel is a separate board from the mainboard that actually runs the drum, compressor and pump. E00 is flagged when the touch panel stops receiving any communication from the mainboard, so nothing you press can be acted on and the programme won't run. It is a communication fault rather than a fault with a specific part like the motor or compressor, which the dryer reports under its own codes.
What E00 looks like on a White Knight tumble dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a White Knight tumble dryer, E00 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Not drying
- Blowing cold air
- Clothes still damp at the end
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- A loose or partly unseated connector on the ribbon or lead between the touch panel and the mainboard
- A failed mainboard, so it is no longer sending anything for the panel to hear
- A failed touch control board
- Damage to the wiring between the two boards, sometimes from moisture or vibration
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dryer off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on — a genuine one-off communication dropout will often clear and not return
- If the panel seems unresponsive rather than showing a fault, check the child lock isn't active before assuming a board problem
Which White Knight models show E00
E00 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

Can I fix White Knight E00 myself?
There are 2 checks you can safely do yourself first.
- Turn the dryer off at the wall socket, leave it for a minute, then switch back on — a genuine one-off communication dropout will often clear and not return.
