What E02 actually means
The machine isn't getting enough water in the time it expects, so it has stopped the programme.
The washer fills to a set level within a set time. If the water coming in is too slow, or none arrives at all, it flags E02 and halts rather than running a wash dry. Nine times out of ten the cause is on the supply side rather than inside the machine.
What usually causes it
- Water supply tap turned off or only part open
- Kinked or trapped fill hose behind the machine
- Blocked filter in the inlet hose or at the tap
- Low water pressure in the house, or supply temporarily off
- Faulty water inlet valve or pressure sensor inside the machine
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the tap feeding the machine is fully open
- Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you have mains water and reasonable pressure
- Look behind the machine and straighten any kink or crush in the fill hose
- Make sure the door is properly shut and latched
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart the programme
