What E01 actually means
The machine can't confirm the door is locked shut, so it won't let the cycle start.
Before a Candy washer dryer will fill or turn the drum, the control board has to see a confirmed signal back from the door safety lock. E01 means that confirmation never arrived, so the machine stops rather than risk running with the door unsecured. On the Candy and Hoover platform this code covers the door interlock itself, the drum braking device and the wiring between them and the power board.
What E01 looks like on a Candy washer dryer

- Door not quite pushed home, or clothing trapped in the seal
- Worn or misaligned door catch and hinge, so the lock never engages fully
- Damaged or loose wiring between the interlock and the control board
- Fault on the control board itself, or its braking-device circuit
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the door, check nothing is caught in the seal or over the catch, then close it firmly until you hear it click.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, switch it back on and try a short cycle \u2014 a one-off lock failure sometimes clears.
- Look at whether the door feels loose or drops when open; if it does, the catch is likely not meeting the lock, and that is worth mentioning to the engineer.
- Try starting a cycle with the drum empty to see whether a heavy load pressing on the door was preventing it locking.
