- Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on — if the code was a one-off glitch it may clear
- Make sure nothing is blocking the ventilation gaps around and beneath the unit, such as packaging, tea towels or stored items in the cupboard below
- Note whether the code appears straight away or only after a period of use, and whether it affects one zone or all of them — that information saves an engineer time
