What E10 actually means
The machine can't get a sensible reading from the sensor that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it stops rather than risk filling blind.
E10 on a Willow washer is the electronic pressure sensor (water level sensor) fault. The control board expects a frequency signal back from that sensor in a set range; if the signal is out of range or missing altogether, it flags E10 and abandons the cycle. It's a fault the control board raises during its own checks, which is why it can appear right at the start before any real washing happens.
What usually causes it
- The pressure sensor itself has drifted out of range or failed
- The thin air hose between the tub and the sensor has come loose, split or filled with water
- A blocked or gunged-up pressure chamber at the bottom of the tub
- A loose or corroded plug at the sensor or control board
- Rarely, a fault on the control board reading the sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute and switch it back on — an occasional one-off reading fault will clear.
- Clean out the pump filter and check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe, as trapped water and siphoning can upset water level readings.
- Make sure the machine isn't overloaded and try a short cycle to see whether the code returns straight away or part-way through.
