What is actually happening
Stopping partway with an alarm is a fault report, not a reminder. It is worth noting whether it happens at the same point every time — an intermittent stop that moves around usually points at a sensor or a control fault, while a stop at exactly the same stage each cycle points at whatever that stage depends on.
The usual causes
- A drain fault stopping the cycle at the same point each time
- A fill or water-level fault
- A heating fault where the cycle waits for a temperature it never reaches
- An intermittent door switch dropping out mid-cycle
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything past this point — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the appliance plugged in.
- Note whether it stops at the same stage each time and how far in
- Check the filter and the sink trap it drains into
- Record any code shown before switching off
Still beeping mid-cycle?
Most of these need an engineer once the checks above are done. £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it, or £84 in total including VAT if it is put right on the visit and no parts are needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
