What E07 actually means

The control board has lost or is disagreeing with the settings that tell it which machine it is fitted to, so it won't run the cycle.

E07 is a configuration failure. The main control board carries a stored setup — the model, the drum size, which heater and sensors are fitted — and if that data is missing, corrupted or doesn't match the hardware it finds, the board halts rather than running a programme it can't trust. It's flagged in the manuals as a service-only code, meaning it isn't normally meant to be displayed to the owner at all, so seeing it on the panel usually points at the board or its programming rather than anything you've done with the load.

What E07 looks like on a Altimo tumble dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Altimo tumble dryer, E07 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Not drying
  • Blowing cold air
  • Clothes still damp at the end
  • Takes hours to dry
  • No function at all
  • Dead — nothing lights up
  • Lights flashing and nothing happening
  • Programme won't start

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Stored model configuration on the main control board lost or corrupted
  • A replacement control board fitted without being configured to the machine
  • Software mismatch between the display and the main board
  • Power interruption or supply spike during a cycle scrambling the board's memory

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the programme knob to the off position, leave it for a few seconds, then switch back on — the manual notes this returns the machine to its factory setting
  2. Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up again and try a short cycle
  3. If the code returns straight away on every programme, stop trying and note down which programmes you attempted — it saves time on the visit

Which Altimo models show E07

E07 means the same thing on all 4 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
