What F08 actually means
The machine has found a problem in the heating circuit — either the relay that switches the heater on the control board, or the heater itself — and it halts rather than carrying on.
On Ariston washers and washer dryers, F08 is reported when the board cannot properly control the wash heater: on the older EVO1 platform it means the heater relay will not switch on when asked, and on later EVO2/V4 boards it is logged when the relay appears stuck. What you see is water that never warms up and a cycle that stalls partway through, often at the point where it should start heating, sometimes with the drain pump running on.
What F08 looks like on a Ariston washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Ariston washer dryer, F08 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine not draining
- Water left in the drum at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
- Standing water in the bottom
- Not drying
- Blowing cold air
- Clothes still damp at the end
- Takes hours to dry

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a cold cycle — if it runs cold but fails on anything warm, that points firmly at the heating circuit.
- Note whether it always stops at the same point in the cycle; that is useful for whoever attends.
