What E01 actually means
The hob has lost a sensible reading from one of the temperature sensors under the cooking zone, so it has shut that zone (or the whole hob) down rather than heat blind.
Induction hobs rely on small temperature sensors (NTCs) fitted to the coil under the glass and to the heatsink on the power electronics. If the control board sees a reading that is out of range or missing altogether, it flags this fault and refuses to power the zone, because without a temperature reading it cannot protect the glass or the electronics from overheating. The fault points to the sensor itself or its connector on the coil as the thing to check, and in practice the code often appears only in the hob's service mode after a zone has quietly stopped working.
What E01 looks like on a Blomberg hob

What usually causes it
- A coil temperature sensor connector that has worked loose or gone high-resistance
- A failed NTC sensor on the cooking zone coil
- A failed NTC sensor on the electronics heatsink
- Damage to the sensor wiring after a spill or long-term heat exposure
- Less commonly, a fault on the main board reading the sensor
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the hob off at the wall or the isolating switch for a minute, then back on — occasionally the fault clears if it was a one-off reading
- Let the hob cool right down before retrying, especially if it stopped after a long heavy cook
- Make sure nothing is covering or resting on the glass, and that the ventilation gap under the hob (in a drawer or cupboard below) is not packed with anything
- Check whether it is one zone or all of them that fail — that is useful information for whoever attends
