What E15 actually means
The machine's main control board has either failed or lost the software settings for your particular model, so it won't run a cycle.
On these Hoover machines the main board is called the "Cuore" power card, and it has to be programmed for your exact model to know which programmes, temperatures and spin speeds to use. E15 means the machine has found that board either faulty or unprogrammed. It stops there because it has no valid instructions to run with.
What E15 looks like on a Hoover washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hoover washing machine, E15 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening
- Programme won't start
- Machine tripping the electrics
- E15 flashing on the display
- Beeping and showing E15
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Failed main control board (Cuore power card)
- A replacement board fitted that was never programmed for the model
- A board that has lost or corrupted its programming
- Power surge or supply spike damaging the board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on — occasionally the code clears and the machine runs normally
- If the machine has recently had a repair or a new board fitted, mention that when you book, as an unprogrammed board is a common cause
