What E19 actually means
The machine can't talk to your phone over its NFC contact point, so the app-based programme won't transfer.
Hoover machines with the One Touch/NFC feature swap programme data with a phone held against the marked spot on the fascia. E19 means that handshake failed — the control board (Hoover call it the "Cuore" power card) got nothing back from the NFC link. The washer itself is generally fine; it's the phone-to-machine connection that has failed.
What usually causes it
- Phone held in the wrong place, or moved too soon while the programme was transferring
- NFC switched off on the phone, or the phone doesn't support it
- Phone case or a thick cover blocking the NFC signal
- The Hoover app not properly set up or paired with the machine
- Fault in the NFC section of the machine's control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check NFC is turned on in your phone's settings
- Take the case off the phone and hold it flat against the marked NFC spot on the fascia until the transfer finishes
- Try the same programme with a different phone if you have one to hand
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power up and try again
- Set the programme with the dial and buttons in the normal way — the machine will still wash without the phone
