What F04 actually means
The hob has lost a reliable reading from the temperature sensor built into one of its induction coils, so it has shut that zone (or the whole hob) down rather than heat anything it cannot monitor.
Every induction coil in this hob has a sensor sitting against the glass to watch how hot the coil and the pan area are getting. On the C01BI60S22, F04 (shown alongside F03) means that sensor is reading as faulty — open, short or wildly out of range. Because the over-temperature protection depends entirely on that reading, the control board stops rather than risk cooking on a zone it is effectively blind to.
What F04 looks like on a HYE hob
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a HYE hob, F04 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Not heating up
- Takes ages to get to temperature
- Cuts out part way through cooking
- Noisy fan
- Not getting cold evenly
- Cuts out after a few minutes
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up

What usually causes it
- Failed temperature sensor on one of the induction coils
- A loose or damaged sensor connection at the control board
- Heat damage under the glass from repeated boil-dry or an overheating zone
- Control board fault misreading a sensor that is actually sound
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch the hob off at the wall or the fuse for a minute, then back on — if the reading was a momentary glitch it will clear
- Let the hob cool right down before retrying; a very hot surface after heavy use can bring on temperature faults
- Check the hob is not being run with a hot pan sitting on the control panel area or with anything spilled and baked onto the glass over the zone
