What F11 actually means
The machine can't see the drain pump electrically at all, so it stops with a drum full of water.
F11 is a drain pump circuit fault. Unlike F05, where the pump is present but the water doesn't clear in time, F11 means the control board is getting no electrical response from the pump at all ", "common_causes": [], "safe_checks": [], "engineer_needed": "usually", "severity": "stop using", "confidence": "low"}
What usually causes it
- Failed drain pump motor winding (open circuit)
- Loose or corroded connection at the pump
- Damaged wiring between the board and the pump
- Fault on the main control board's pump output
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on, in case the reading was a one-off
- Clean the pump filter behind the flap at the bottom front and clear any debris \u2014 machine unplugged first
- Check the waste hose isn't kinked or pushed too far into the standpipe
- Set a drain or spin-only programme to see whether the water clears at all
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
