What OE actually means
Your LG washer hasn't managed to empty the water out within the time it expects, so it has stopped with a drum full of water.
OE (often misread as 0E) is LG's drain fault. The machine runs the drain pump and checks the water has gone; if the level hasn't dropped, it halts rather than spinning a full drum. You'll usually find the cycle stuck before the spin with standing water in the tub.
What usually causes it
- Blocked pump filter at the bottom front he of the machine clogged with coins, wrappers and fluff
- Kinked, trapped or blocked drain hose
- Blockage where the drain hose joins the sink waste or standpipe
- Debris caught in the sump hose between drum and pump
- Worn or failed drain pump
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then try a drain or spin cycle only if it's a one-off glitch, that often clears it
- Clean the pump filter behind the small flap at the bottom front (have a shallow tray and towels ready the drum is still full of water). Rinse the filter under warm water and brush the mesh clear
- Check the drain hose at the back isn't kinked, squashed against the wall or pushed too far down the standpipe
- Make sure the sink waste it drains into isn't blocked run the tap and see if it backs up
