What DE actually means

The dryer doesn't believe the door is properly shut, so it won't start or continues a cycle.

Samsung dryers use a door switch to confirm the door is latched before the drum will turn and the heater will run. DE means that signal isn't reaching the control board — either the door genuinely isn't catching, or the switch and its wiring have failed. The machine stops as a safety measure rather than run with a door it can't confirm is closed.

What DE looks like on a Samsung tumble dryer

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Open the door and close it firmly — listen for a definite click, and try starting again
Redistribute the load so nothing is pressing on the door
Wipe lint and fluff from around the door catch and the seal
Check the catch and strike plate aren't visibly bent, loose or snapped
Turn the dryer off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up
