What E10 actually means
The machine can't get a sensible reading from the sensor that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it has stopped rather than risk overfilling or running dry.
E10 is the pressure sensor (EPS) fault on these Sharp/Vestel-built machines. During its self-check the control board looks for a signal from that sensor in a set range; if the reading is wrong or missing altogether, the machine flags E10 and abandons the cycle. It's usually the sensor itself, its little air hose, or the wiring connection to it \u2014 not something the wash programme can work around.
What usually causes it
- Pressure sensor has failed or drifted out of range
- The thin air hose to the sensor is blocked, split or has come off
- Loose or corroded plug at the sensor
- Sludge or detergent residue blocking the pressure chamber at the tub
- Control board fault or damage from damp/very cold conditions
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and try a short cycle \u2014 occasionally clears a one-off glitch
- Check the machine isn't standing somewhere very cold or damp, such as an unheated garage; let it warm to room temperature before trying again
- Clean out the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure the drain hose isn't kinked, so no water is trapped in the drum
