What F06 actually means
The dishwasher can no longer read the temperature of the water it is heating, so it has stopped the programme rather than carry on blind.
The fault F6 as a fault with the heater sensor — the NTC probe fitted to the heater casing that tells the control board how hot the wash water is. The control board expects a sensible resistance reading from that probe throughout the cycle; when the reading is missing, out of range or erratic, it abandons the programme and flashes the code. Because heating is controlled off that reading, the machine will not attempt to heat without it.
What F06 looks like on a Sharp dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Sharp dishwasher, F06 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Dishes coming out cold and wet
- Not drying the load
- Water not heating up
- No function at all
- Dead — nothing lights up
- Lights flashing and nothing happening

What usually causes it
- Failed NTC temperature probe on the heater assembly
- A loose or corroded connection at the sensor
- Damp or damaged wiring in the base of the machine reaching the sensor
- A control board that is no longer reading the sensor circuit correctly
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall socket for a minute, switch back on and start a short programme — this clears the stored fault and shows whether it returns straight away or part-way through the wash
- Note whether the code appears immediately or only once the machine should be heating; it helps whoever attends
