Sharp F07 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What F07 actually means

The dishwasher has measured a water temperature higher than it should ever reach and has shut the cycle down to protect itself.

Sharp's control board watches the temperature sensor in the heater housing throughout the wash. If the reading climbs past the safe limit — or the board can no longer make sense of it — the programme is abandoned and F07 is displayed. The right course for this code is to call an engineer, and that is because the fault sits with the heating circuit rather than with anything the user loads or cleans.

What F07 looks like on a Sharp dishwasher

What usually causes it

The temperature sensor in the heater housing giving a false high reading
The heater staying powered when the control board has told it to switch off
A failed or sticking relay on the main control board
Water being fed to the machine from a hot supply that is hotter than the machine expects
Heavy limescale on the heater causing localised overheating

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the machine off at the wall socket for a minute, then switch back on and start a short programme — if the temperature reading was a one-off glitch the code will clear.
Check whether the dishwasher is plumbed into a hot water supply rather than cold; if it is, and the water is very hot, that is worth mentioning to the engineer.
Open the door and let the machine cool for half an hour before retrying, rather than restarting straight away.
