What E30 actually means
The machine has stopped because it hasn't taken in enough water in the time the control board allows.
On Siemens washer dryers this comes up early in the cycle, usually within the first few minutes while the machine is trying to fill. The control module times the fill, and if the water level hasn't risen far enough within that window it abandons the cycle and shows the fault rather than running the drum dry or heating with no water. You may hear the valve buzzing with little or no water arriving, or nothing at all. The full code is often displayed as E30-10, and on older Bosch-group washers the same physical fault appeared as F17, F29, E17 or E29 — the cause hasn't changed, only the way it's reported.
What E30 looks like on a Siemens washer dryer

What usually causes it
- Water supply tap turned off or only part open
- Inlet hose kinked, trapped or crushed behind the machine
- Blocked filter screen in the inlet hose or at the valve
- Faulty water inlet valve not opening
- Low mains water pressure, or a stopcock left partly closed after other work
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open, not half-turned.
- Look behind the machine and make sure the inlet hose isn't kinked, twisted or pinched against the wall.
- Run the cold tap at a nearby sink to confirm you have normal pressure and the supply hasn't been isolated.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back on and restart the cycle — this clears the fault if the supply problem has been fixed.
- If you have a water softener or a recently fitted filter on the supply, check it isn't restricting flow.
