What E02 actually means

The machine isn't getting enough water in, so it has stopped and shown E02.

E02 means the washer expected the drum to fill within a set time and it didn't. The machine halts the cycle rather than carry on dry, because washing or heating without water would cause damage. Nine times out of ten the water supply to the machine is restricted rather than anything being broken inside.

What E02 looks like on a Willow washing machine

Machine door won't open
Door won't lock or click shut

What usually causes it

Water tap to the machine turned off or only part open
Kinked or trapped fill hose behind the machine
Blocked filter in the fill hose connection at the tap end
Low mains water pressure, or no water to the house
Faulty water inlet valve or pressure sensor inside the machine

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Check the tap feeding the machine is fully open
Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you have water and reasonable pressure
Look along the fill hose for kinks or crushing where the machine sits close to the wall
Make sure the door is shut properly and press start again
Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it up and restart the cycle
