What E07 actually means
The washing machine's control board has lost or mismatched its settings — it no longer knows which model it is supposed to be running as.
Willow lists E07 as a configuration failure. The main control board carries a stored configuration telling it what motor, heater and options this particular machine has; if that data is corrupt or missing, the board refuses to run a programme. It is flagged in the service documents as a service-only code, so it is not one the machine is normally meant to show an owner at all — seeing it usually means the board has been replaced without being configured, or its stored settings have been lost.
What usually causes it
- A replacement control board fitted but not set up for this model
- Stored settings on the main board corrupted, often after a power surge or brown-out
- Software mismatch between the display and the main board
- A failed control board
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the programme knob to off, wait a few seconds and switch the machine off at the wall for a minute before trying again — the documents describe an off-position reset as the standard way to clear faults
- If it clears and comes straight back, note whether it appears before the drum moves at all; that is worth telling the engineer
