What H04 actually means

The dishwasher can no longer read the water temperature, so it has stopped rather than carry on blind.

H04 is logged when the control board gets a reading from the NTC temperature sensor that makes no sense \u2014 typically an open circuit or a short. Without a trustworthy temperature reading the machine cannot tell whether the water has reached wash or rinse temperature, so it abandons the programme instead of heating uncontrolled. Owners usually notice it part-way through a cycle, often with cold or barely warm water in the tub and dishes left dirty.

What H04 looks like on a Beko dishwasher

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Beko dishwasher, H04 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Dishwasher not draining
  • Water left in the tub at the end of the cycle
  • Stops mid-cycle full of water
  • Standing water in the bottom
  • Dishes coming out cold and wet
  • Not drying the load
  • Water not heating up
  • No function at all

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • Failed NTC temperature sensor in the sump
  • Damaged or corroded wiring or plug at the sensor
  • Water ingress into the sensor connection
  • Control board fault misreading the sensor signal

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a cycle \u2014 a one-off glitch will sometimes clear
  2. Note whether the water is cold when the fault appears; that is useful information for whoever attends

Which Beko models show H04

H04 means the same thing on this model. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
