What E00 actually means
E00 isn't a fault — it's the machine telling you there are no stored error codes in its memory.
E00 only appears in the engineer's diagnostic (test) mode, on the screen that lists the machine's fault history. It means the memory is empty: either nothing has ever been logged, or the records have been cleared. It doesn't stop the machine and doesn't point to anything broken.
What usually causes it
- The machine has been put into test/diagnostic mode by accident
- Fault history has been wiped after a previous repair
- No faults have ever been recorded on that control board
- A control board that has been replaced, so the memory starts empty
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on to leave test mode
- Turn the programme dial back to off and reselect a normal wash
- Run a short cycle and see whether it behaves normally
When to call someone
This often clears with the checks above, and rarely needs an engineer. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
