What E30 actually means
The machine cannot lock its door, so it refuses to start filling or washing.
Before any ElectriQ washer takes water, it locks the door and waits for confirmation from the door interlock. The machine attempts to lock six times; if it never gets that confirmation back, it abandons the cycle and shows E30. Nothing will run until the lock reports itself closed.
What E30 looks like on a ElectriQ washing machine
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a ElectriQ washing machine, E30 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Door not properly pushed shut, or laundry trapped in the seal holding it open
- Worn or faulty door lock (interlock) assembly
- Misaligned or damaged door catch/hinge so the latch does not engage squarely
- Loose or broken wiring between the control board and the door lock
- Main control board fault — uncommon
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Open the door and push it firmly shut until you hear it click.
- Check nothing is caught in the seal — a sleeve or towel edge stopping the door closing fully.
- Look at the catch on the door and the opening it goes into; if the door has dropped or feels sloppy, that will stop it locking.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart the cycle.
Which ElectriQ models show E30
E30 means the same thing on all 3 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
