ElectriQ E37 error — washing machine

What E37 actually means

The sensor that measures the air temperature at the machine's drying intake isn't giving a sensible reading, so the machine stops rather than run a drying cycle blind.

On these washer dryers there's a temperature sensor at the air intake port that the control board watches during drying. If the reading never changes, or the sensor circuit reads as short or open, the board flags E37 and halts. It's an electrical fault in the sensor or its wiring, not something caused by how you've loaded the machine.

What usually causes it

  • A loose or unseated plug on the intake temperature sensor
  • Damaged or chafed wiring between the sensor and the control board
  • The temperature sensor itself has failed (out of its normal resistance range)
  • A faulty main control board — the least common of the three

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power back up and see if the code returns — occasionally it's a one-off reading
  2. Try a wash-only cycle with no drying; if that runs normally it confirms the fault sits in the drying side

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
