Stop using it for now. Carrying on with this fault risks further damage or a leak. Switch it off at the wall until it has been looked at.

What E33 actually means

The machine has lost the signal from the sensor that tells it how much water is in the drum, so it has shut the water valve off and stopped.

Your ElectriQ washer relies on a water level (pressure) sensor to know when the drum has filled enough and when it has emptied. With E33 the control board is getting no usable signal from that sensor at all, so rather than risk overfilling it cuts power to the inlet valve and halts the cycle with the code showing. It will normally appear early on, around the fill stage, and the drum may be empty or part-filled.

What usually causes it

  • Faulty water level (pressure) sensor
  • The thin pressure hose between the tub and the sensor blocked, split or pushed off
  • A loose or damaged plug on the wiring between the sensor and the control board
  • Failed main control board — much less common

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and start a short cycle — occasional one-off sensor glitches clear this way
  2. Check the drain hose isn't kinked or pushed too far down the standpipe, as odd draining behaviour can be mistaken for this fault
  3. Clean out the pump filter at the bottom front and make sure any water in the drum has drained before retrying

When to call someone

This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
