What E10 actually means
The machine has opened its water valves but not enough water has arrived, so it has given up filling and stopped.
During the fill stage the control board watches the water level. If it sees no change in level after several minutes (3 or 7 minutes depending on the model) with the valves held open, it shuts the valves off and shows this code rather than run the drum dry. So the machine is telling you water isn't getting in fast enough — or it is getting in but the level sensor isn't registering it.
What usually causes it
- Tap at the back turned off or only part-open
- Fill hose kinked, trapped or crushed behind the machine
- Blocked filter screen in the hose connection at the valve end
- Low mains water pressure in the house
- Faulty water inlet valve, or a blocked air pipe to the water level sensor so the board never sees the level rise
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the water tap feeding the machine is fully open
- Pull the machine out gently and check the fill hose isn't kinked or squashed against the wall
- Turn on another cold tap in the house to see whether pressure generally is poor
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then power up and restart a short cycle to clear the code
