What E11 actually means
The machine hasn't taken in enough water in the time allowed for the wash, so it has stopped and held the door shut.
During a fill, the control board watches the pressure sensor to see the water level rise. It allows a set window for each stage of filling — roughly five minutes to reach the low safety level, five more to the next level, and ten minutes to reach the level the programme actually wants. If the level hasn't come up by then, the fill is declared failed, the cycle is paused and the door stays locked. Pressing Start/Pause or resetting the programme clears it, but a power cut will not — the fault comes back until the cause is dealt with.
What E11 looks like on a Electrolux washer dryer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Electrolux washer dryer, E11 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Machine door won't open
- Door won't lock or click shut
- Door lock light flashing
- Door stuck shut with the load inside
- Won't start even with the door closed
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.
What usually causes it
- Water supply turned off at the tap or only partly open
- Kinked, trapped or crushed cold fill hose behind the machine
- Blocked filter in the inlet hose connection or a clogged mesh at the valve
- Low mains water pressure, or a stopcock left partly closed after other work
- Faulty water inlet valve not opening when told to
- Pressure sensor or its air chamber hose giving a false level reading, so the machine never sees the water it has taken in
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the water tap feeding the machine is fully open.
- Pull the machine forward far enough to see the fill hose is not kinked, squashed or twisted.
- Run a nearby cold tap to confirm you have normal mains pressure and the supply hasn't been isolated.
- Press Start/Pause to clear the alarm and restart a short programme to see whether it fills.
- If it still won't fill, switch off at the wall for a minute before trying once more.
Which Electrolux models show E11
E11 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.

What does E11 mean on a Electrolux washer dryer?

Can I fix Electrolux E11 myself?
There are 5 checks you can safely do yourself first.
This sometimes clears with those checks. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly.
How much does it cost to repair Electrolux E11?
£66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it, or £84 in total including VAT if it is put right on the visit and no parts are needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Tried the checks and it's still showing E11?
This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. Then it wants someone who can open it up.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
