What E69 actually means
The dryer has found a problem with its heating system and has stopped heating properly.
E69 belongs to Electrolux's E6 group of faults, all of which cover the heating side of the dryer. It is one of the codes that normally only appears when the machine is put into service mode rather than on the display in normal use, so if you are seeing it, someone has usually been into the diagnostics already. The control board has decided the heating circuit is not behaving as it should during the heating phase and will not carry on drying normally.
What usually causes it
- Heavily blocked lint filters or a clogged air path restricting airflow
- A failed heating element
- A faulty NTC temperature sensor giving the board bad readings
- Damaged or loose wiring in the heating circuit
- A fault on the control board itself
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Clean both lint filters thoroughly, including the mesh in the door area, and rinse them if they feel greasy or coated
- On heat pump models, check the condenser filter area at the base is clear of fluff
- Make sure the dryer is not pushed hard against a wall or shut in a cupboard where it cannot draw air
- Turn it off at the wall for a minute, then power up and run a short cycle to see if the fault returns
When to call someone
This one usually needs an engineer once you have tried the checks above. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.
Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
