The dryer can't tell that its programme selector is sitting in the OFF position, so it won't start or run a cycle.

Electrolux dryers check the position of the programme selector against a reference — the OFF/reset position. If the control board never sees that OFF position properly, it can't trust which programme you've chosen and halts the cycle. If the knob is a push-in type, check it is pushed fully home and turns with the usual clicks rather than spinning freely.
