What E94 actually means
The dryer's control board has lost or scrambled the stored settings for the drying programme, so it won't run the cycle you selected.
Every Electrolux dryer board holds configuration data in its memory that tells it how the selected drying cycle should run. When the board reads that data and finds it doesn't make sense for the model it's fitted to, it halts the cycle rather than guess. You'll typically see the programme stop dead soon after starting, with the machine going into a fault state instead of drying.
What usually causes it
- Corrupted configuration data in the control board's memory
- Control board fault
- A replacement board fitted without being configured to the model
- Power supply interference or a mains dip while the board was reading its memory
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Switch off at the wall socket, leave it a minute, then switch back on and try the cycle again — an occasional one-off glitch will clear
- Try a different drying programme; if only one cycle fails, mention that to the engineer
- Note down whether all the lights flash or only the fault shows, as it helps separate this from the closely related configuration fault
