What C07 actually means
The dryer isn't getting hot — it checked for a rise in air temperature after the heater switched on, didn't see one, and stopped.
During the first part of the cycle the control watches the air temperature climb as the heating element comes on. On this Electrolux platform, if no minimum temperature rise is seen within the time allowed, it logs a heater fault and shows C7 rather than tumbling cold for hours. The drum will usually still turn and you may find the load barely warm and still wet.
What usually causes it
- Failed heating element
- Blown thermal cut-out or overheat protector, often triggered by blocked airflow
- Heavily clogged filters or lint-choked ducting starving the heater of air
- Faulty relay or wiring on the heater circuit
- Temperature sensor reading incorrectly and misleading the control
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Clean the door filter and any secondary fluff filter thoroughly — a felted layer of lint is the most common trigger behind an overheat cut-out
- Check the vent hose (if vented) is not kinked, crushed behind the machine or blocked, and that the outside vent flap moves freely
- On condenser models, remove and rinse the condenser unit if your model allows it without tools
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then restart on a normal heated programme to see whether the code returns
