What E01 actually means
The dishwasher isn't getting enough water in the time it expects, so it has stopped and is asking for water.
On the HDW87610W this code comes up during the fill part of the cycle — the machine opens its inlet valve, waits for the water level to reach the point it needs, and gives up when that takes too long. The manual pairs it with the soak light flashing rapidly. Nothing is broken as far as the machine knows; it can tell water is not arriving fast enough.
What E01 looks like on a Haden dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Haden dishwasher, E01 usually shows up as one or more of these:

What usually causes it
- The water supply tap to the dishwasher is closed or only part open
- A kinked or trapped fill hose behind the machine
- Restricted flow through the inlet — a blocked filter screen where the hose meets the machine
- Low mains water pressure, or work being done on the supply
- A faulty water inlet valve that no longer opens properly
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the tap that feeds the dishwasher is fully open — if it has been turned off for other work, that is far and away the most common answer
- Run a nearby cold tap for a few seconds to confirm you have normal pressure and no airlock
- Look behind the machine, without pulling it out hard, and make sure the fill hose isn't kinked, crushed or pinched against the wall
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, switch back on and restart the cycle to clear the code
