What E01 actually means
The machine hasn't taken on enough water in the time it allows, so it has stopped and flagged a fill problem.
On these Haden machines E01 is a fill timeout — the control expects the drum to reach its water level within a set period, and when the level sensor doesn't see it, the cycle halts rather than carrying on dry. You'll usually notice it early in a wash, sometimes with little or no water in the drum and a tap that's audibly not flowing.
What usually causes it
- Water tap turned off or only part open
- Inlet hose kinked, trapped or crushed behind the machine
- Drain hose sitting too low, so water siphons straight out as it fills
- Blocked inlet filter in the hose or a poor mains supply
- Faulty water inlet valve
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the cold tap feeding the machine is fully open, and that water actually runs from it
- Look behind the machine and straighten any kink or trapped section in the inlet hose
- Make sure the drain hose end is hooked up at the correct height rather than lying low in a bucket or flat on the floor — a low hose lets the water run away as fast as it comes in
- Switch off at the wall for a minute, then restart a short cycle to see if it fills
