What E10 actually means

The machine isn't getting enough water in, so it has stopped and flagged E10.

Haden machines expect the drum to fill to a set level within a certain time at the start of a wash or a rinse. If little or no water arrives, the control board halts the cycle and shows E10 rather than run the heater or drum dry. Haden's own documents put this down to low water pressure, a restricted fill hose or a blocked inlet valve filter.

What usually causes it

  • Tap behind the machine turned off or only part open
  • Fill hose kinked or trapped against the wall
  • Blocked filter in the inlet valve where the hose screws on
  • Genuinely low mains water pressure (the machine needs at least 0.05 MPa)
  • Faulty inlet valve or water level sensing

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Check the water tap behind the machine is fully open.
  2. Look along the fill hose and pull the machine out gently so the hose isn't kinked or crushed.
  3. Run a nearby cold tap to see whether the house has normal pressure.
  4. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, switch back on and restart the cycle.

When to call someone

This sometimes clears with the checks above. If it comes back, it needs looking at properly. We cover Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire and Leicestershire, and it's £66 including VAT for an engineer to come out and diagnose it — £84 in total if it's repaired on the visit with no parts needed. Any parts needed are quoted on site before we fit them — you decide. Every repair carries a 90-day workmanship guarantee.

Outside our area? The explanation above still stands — take it to a local engineer and tell them the code. Knowing it saves them time and you money.
