What E05 actually means
The machine has stopped because the drum motor isn't running, or isn't reporting back that it's running.

What E05 looks like on a Haden washer dryer

What usually causes it
- Worn motor brushes or a failing drum motor
- A fault on the main control board's motor drive section
- A loose or corroded plug on the motor wiring
- A failed tachometer / speed sensor on the motor, so rotation isn't detected
- Something jamming the drum, such as a coin or wire from a bra between drum and tub
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then back on and restart a short programme — an occasional one-off trip can clear.
- Open the door and turn the drum by hand. It should spin freely and quietly. If it's stiff, grinding or won't move, don't run it again.
- Take some washing out if you've packed it in tightly and try again — an overloaded, badly balanced drum can bring on a motor fault.
- Have a listen when it tries to start: a hum with no movement, or a burning smell, both mean stop and call someone.
