What E06 actually means

The machine has decided the water heater isn't behaving as it should, so it stops rather than carry on with a wash it can't heat.

On these Haden washer dryers the control board watches the heating circuit during the wash and checks that the water temperature responds when the heater is switched on. If it sees no response, or the heater circuit reads as faulty, it drops out with this code instead of running the programme cold. The usual complaint we hear is that the cycle stalls part way through, or the wash finishes but the drum contents are stone cold.

What E06 looks like on a Haden washer dryer

Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Haden washer dryer, E06 usually shows up as one or more of these:

  • Not drying
  • Blowing cold air
  • Clothes still damp at the end
  • Takes hours to dry
  • No function at all
  • Dead — nothing lights up
  • Lights flashing and nothing happening
  • Programme won't start

Recognise any of those? That is this fault, and the rest of this page explains what causes it and what you can check yourself.

What usually causes it

  • A failed wash heater element
  • A loose or corroded connection at the heater terminals
  • Heavy limescale on the element in a hard water area
  • A control board that no longer drives or reads the heating circuit

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

  1. Turn the machine off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and restart a short programme — occasionally a one-off glitch clears
  2. Check you haven't selected a cold or rinse-only programme, which can be confused with a heating fault
  3. Note at what point in the cycle it stops and on which programmes — that saves an engineer time

Which Haden models show E06

E06 means the same thing on all 2 of these models. If yours is not listed, the explanation above still applies — the code is set by the control board, not the model number.
