What E01 actually means
The dishwasher hasn't taken in enough water in the time it expects, so it has stopped and flagged a fill problem.
Hisense dishwashers monitor how long the fill valve runs before the tub reaches its working water level. If that time is exceeded — the water is coming in too slowly, or not at all — the machine abandons the cycle rather than trying to wash and heat with an empty tub. You'll usually notice it early in the programme, before any real washing noise starts.
What E01 looks like on a Hisense dishwasher
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Hisense dishwasher, E01 usually shows up as one or more of these:
- Dishwasher not draining
- Water left in the tub at the end of the cycle
- Stops mid-cycle full of water
- Standing water in the bottom
- Not filling with water
- No water going in
- Takes for ever to fill
- Stops right at the start of the cycle

What usually causes it
- The water tap feeding the dishwasher is turned off or only part-open
- Kinked or trapped inlet hose behind the machine
- Blocked filter screen in the hose connection at the tap
- Low mains water pressure, or a stopcock left partly closed after other plumbing work
- Faulty water inlet valve or level sensing, which needs an engineer
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Check the tap under the sink or behind the machine is fully open — these get knocked shut when things are stored in the cupboard.
- Look at the inlet hose where it runs behind the appliance and make sure it isn't kinked, crushed or trapped against the wall.
- Run the cold tap at the sink to confirm you have normal mains pressure and nothing has been left turned off elsewhere.
- Switch the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then power it back up and restart the programme to clear the fault.
- If you've had a leak or standing water in the cupboard, turn the water supply off at the tap and leave the machine alone until it's been looked at.
