What H07 actually means

The manual for the HV603D40 describes a hardness scale running from H0 (softener off) up through to H7, where each press steps the value up one level and then rolls back round to H0. H07 means the machine has been told the incoming water is at the hard end of the Clark scale and is dosing salt accordingly. Nothing has failed, and the dishwasher will still run its programme normally.

- The value was stepped through past H0 and round to the highest setting by mistake
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Compare the setting against your actual water hardness \u2014 your water supplier publishes this for your postcode, and softer water needs a lower level
- Step the setting back down using the hardness adjustment described in your manual; it cycles back to H0 once past the top of the range
- Top the salt reservoir up with proper dishwasher salt \u2014 at the highest setting the machine uses salt faster, so it will run low sooner
- If it will not clear at all, turn the machine off at the wall for a minute and switch it back on
