What F06 actually means
The dishwasher has shut the cycle down because the water temperature reading has gone too high, or the sensor that measures it is giving a faulty reading.
Rangemaster's own service notes tie F06 to two things: water in the tub reaching 77°C or above, and a fault in the NTC temperature sensor itself or its wiring. The control board cannot tell a genuinely overheating wash from a sensor that is lying to it, so it stops the programme and locks out rather than risk cooking the load or the plastics. On the machines this appears on, the manufacturer's advice is to have it looked at rather than keep restarting it.
What F06 looks like on a Rangemaster dishwasher

What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch back on and start a fresh cycle — if the code returns straight away, the fault is real and not a one-off glitch
- Clear the filters in the base of the tub of food debris and grease, so water can circulate freely
