Rangemaster F00 dishwasher: what it means & what to check

What F00 actually means

The dishwasher has detected too much water inside it and has shut the cycle down to stop a flood.

On this Rangemaster the code corresponds to the overflow / anti-flood protection tripping. The machine has sensed a water level it should never reach, so it stops filling and normally tries to pump out rather than carry on washing. The fault notes this warning isn't shown during normal running allowed only when the protection has actually operated \u2014 so if you can see it, something has genuinely let too much water in or failed to get it out.

A leak inside the machine tripping the flood protection
A faulty level sensor or a fill valve that keeps letting water in

What you can safely check yourself

Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.

Turn the dishwasher off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on and see if the code returns
Lift out the bottom basket and clean the mesh filter and the coarse filter thoroughly, including the recess they sit in
Check the drain hose behind the machine isn't kinked, crushed or trapped, and that it isn't pushed too far into the standpipe
If you have a waste disposal or a recently fitted sink trap, check the dishwasher spigot connection isn't blocked
If you can see water sitting in the bottom of the machine or on the floor, turn it off at the wall and close the water supply tap under the sink
