What E01 actually means
The fridge section's temperature sensor is no longer giving the control board a sensible reading, so the appliance has flagged it and stopped controlling the fridge normally.
Teknix use this code for a fault in the fridge compartment temperature sensor (or its wiring back to the control board) — an open circuit, a short, or a reading well outside the range the board expects. Because the board can no longer tell how cold the fridge is, it can't decide when to run the compressor and fan for that compartment, so it falls back to a fixed pattern and shows the error on the fridge temperature display. In practice owners notice the fridge running either too warm or frosting up at the back, while the freezer often carries on looking fine.
What E01 looks like on a Teknix fridge freezer
Most people find this page having searched for what the machine is doing rather than the code itself. On a Teknix fridge freezer, E01 usually shows up as one or more of these:

What usually causes it
- Failed fridge compartment temperature sensor (the most common outcome by far)
- A loose or corroded plug on the sensor lead, often where damp has got in
- Chafed or broken sensor wiring in the loom running to the control board
- Water ingress or ice around the sensor holder in the fridge liner
- A fault in the control board itself reading the sensor incorrectly — much rarer
What you can safely check yourself
Work through these in order. Anything beyond this — panels off, testing parts, anything to do with the wiring — is an engineer's job, and not one to attempt with the machine plugged in.
- Turn the appliance off at the wall for a minute, then switch it back on — occasionally the code is a one-off reading and clears
- Check the fridge door is closing fully and the seal isn't folded over or held open by a shelf or tall bottle
- Make sure food and packaging aren't pressed against the back wall or blocking the air vents inside the fridge
- Note whether the fridge is actually still cooling — put a fridge thermometer or a glass of water in there and check it over a few hours, so you know how urgent it is
